Beat the Heat: Ultra Cool Tech and Purpose Performance Wear Launch the Glacier Hat

June 30, 2025 – Ultra Cool Tech and Purpose Performance Wear (Purpose), two innovative startups redefining thermoregulation for athletes, are proud to announce the launch of their first product specifically designed for runners: the Glacier Hat. Created in-house by performance-focused designers from both companies, the Glacier Hat uses advanced cooling materials to support the body’s natural thermoregulation during intense workouts and endurance events.

Lightweight and styled like a classic running hat, the Glacier Hat delivers continuous, chemical-free cooling by accelerating the evaporation process at one of the body’s key heat-release zones—the head. Its advanced fabric technology triggers a rapid evaporative effect when wet, drawing heat away from the skin and helping to maintain a safe and stable core temperature.

The Glacier Hat is the first collaboration between the two companies, which have joined forces to advance wearable cooling technologies for endurance athletes.

“We designed the Glacier Hat to work in sync with the body—not against it,” said Chris Blomfield-Brown, founder of Ultra Cool Tech. “It helps runners stay cool and perform better without relying on batteries, gels, or complicated tech. Just water and smart design.”

“With the Glacier Hat, we’re bringing a professional-grade cooling tool to everyday athletes,” added Blomfield-Brown. “And this is just the beginning—more innovations are coming.”

"We're incredibly excited to introduce the Glacier Hat to the public. We've rigorously tested this cooling hat with Ultra Cool Tech in one of the hottest and most humid places on earth, Singapore. This product is at the centre of our mission to redefine what's possible in thermoregulation for endurance sports," said Cyril Bedat, CEO of Purpose.

"As a Singapore-based company, we have a deep understanding of how heat and humidity impact athlete performance at all levels. We're eager to reveal more of our solutions and insights in this area to the public soon," added Noor Aziz, founder of Purpose.

The Glacier Hat underwent rigorous testing during the T100 Triathlon in Singapore by Canadian Olympian Tyler Mislawchuk and several elite triathletes. Further validation came at IRONMAN Cairns 2025, where winner Matthew Marquardt secured his first professional IRONMAN title while wearing a Glacier Hat prototype and using Ultra Cool Tech's cooling towels. Marquardt reported enhanced comfort and more stable pacing under heat stress, providing early, real-world proof of the hat's performance.

The Glacier Hat officially launches on July 6, 2025, at the iconic Challenge Roth. Visitors, journalists, and race participants can try the product firsthand at the Ultra Cool Tech and Purpose booth. Stay tuned for future announcements, including additional products for cyclists, triathletes, and outdoor professionals currently in development.
